Hong Wang, M.D., Ph.D. is the Senior Scientist in Research & Development in Shaklee Corporation. He is responsible for new product research and development projects, and supports claims development and substantiation for nutritional products.
Dr. Wang received his medical degree from National Taiwan University Medical School and is a board-certified Internist in Taiwan. He was awarded “Outstanding Resident of the Year 1992-1993” during his clinical residency at Cardinal Tien Hospital in Taiwan. He also earned his Ph.D. degree in human nutrition from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. He did substantial postdoctoral research in Children’s Hospital in Boston and was an Instructor in McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Belmont, Massachusetts. He is the first author in papers that described the use of ORAC assay in measuring the antioxidant capacity in fruits and vegetables and phytochemicals that made an impact in the nutraceutical industry. He has extensive experience in research and development in natural products, nutraceuticals and medical foods.
