Prune Powder
Prune powder is made from the dried fruit of the plum tree (Prunus domestica). The prunes are specially prepared into a fine powder. Prune powder serves as a natural means of adding sweetness and enhancing flavor.
Health Benefits
Prunes are a good source of fiber and micronutrients such as Vitamin A and K.1 Prunes may contain antioxidant properties.1 Prunes may increase feelings of fullness and thus reduce the intake of total calories.2 Consumption of prunes may prevent constipation.2 It has been suggested in a preclinical study that plum extracts may increase calcium retention in bones.3 Consumption of prunes may help lower blood pressure and benefit liver health in humans by reducing the level of enzymes determining liver health, such as: serum alanine transaminase and alkaline phosphatase.4,5
